Packing the Winter Away

Packing the winter away,
spreading new bedding
for a fresh and crisp day.

Sweeping the crumbs of yesterday,
ready for the new morning
after packing the winter away.

The power of the satin sway
begins a yearning
for a fresh and crisp day,

for a something that won't fray
in the re-awakening
after packing the winter away,

for a feeling that will stay
clear and gleaming
like a fresh and crisp day,

but who am I kidding anyway –
when my heart's bleeding,
though packing the winter away,
still hoping for a fresh and crisp day

L

Written in an attempt at a Villanelle, as suggested by Grace at dVerse.
A few words of explanation though: my heart always bleeds at World News such as the ones from the Kenyan university, that have a way to filter through to the most mundane actions like folding the quilt and spreading new sheets.
Yet the hope for a better world is always present as well.

    1. Though I always thought winter more practical (you can don on another layer when cold, but you can't shed you skin when too hot ;-)) I can see how it can get too much
And unfortunately, sadly, even tragically, the younger deaths – the more awful. I do hope the human race will find a way to put a stop to this phenomena soon

    1. Thank you! I did read yours too but had to read more about Christianity, which I did, and now I'm off to re-read, when I can understand it a bit better

So sorry the right-click didn't work! Maybe it is affected by the type of Internet browser in use

    2. Hi Linda, just a quick word to let you know Sabio Lantz just tried the right-click to change the language direction and it worked for him. Maybe you'd try again next time you're around? The Commenting Tip will still be there. Hope your weekend is good

        1. Oh, the explorer… all I can tell you is that I've used it since the 90's till last February. It always caused me problems and finally I got fed up and switched to the Chrome. I've had exactly 1 problem with it till now, accessing a single blog, and it seems to have sorted itself out. But, of course, it's your choice. All I wish for is to host you comfortably whenever you stop by

  2. Mundane tasks seem so meaningless in light of tragedies like the one in Kenya….my heart bleeds too, as I was born in Kenya and this tragedy hits close to home, so I know what you mean. Lovely villanelle.

    1. To me every life is sacred and no one person has any right or justification to take it from another. That being said, and unfortunately, I can certainly understand how you feel, when your home is violated like this
May we know no more of it
