Packing the winter away,
spreading new bedding
for a fresh and crisp day.
Sweeping the crumbs of yesterday,
ready for the new morning
after packing the winter away.
The power of the satin sway
begins a yearning
for a fresh and crisp day,
for a something that won't fray
in the re-awakening
after packing the winter away,
for a feeling that will stay
clear and gleaming
like a fresh and crisp day,
but who am I kidding anyway –
when my heart's bleeding,
though packing the winter away,
still hoping for a fresh and crisp day
Written in an attempt at a Villanelle, as suggested by Grace at dVerse.
A few words of explanation though: my heart always bleeds at World News such as the ones from the Kenyan university, that have a way to filter through to the most mundane actions like folding the quilt and spreading new sheets.
Yet the hope for a better world is always present as well.
