Despite my lack of sympathy to flat statues (as long as it is a sculpture, why not celebrate its' bulk?), at least this one is more stylized then the previous ones, isn't it?

My apologies, I couldn't find details, as in if this is a real tree or what… But as I like Trees, this unusual one, in the middle of a tall building, caught my eye.
מצטערת, לא הצלחתי למצוא פרטים, כגון האם העץ אמיתי או לא… אך היות וחובבת עצים אני, העץ הבלתי רגיל הזה, באמצע בניין גבוה, קלט את עיני.

A few explanatory words: the Weekly Photo Challenge urging to Experiment, sent me to this corner of the Park, housing some statues* (that I don't really like much). After experimenting with the photography itself, I tried some of the camera options/effects (which I don't normally mess with).
And the above result? I actually like. The Dream/Fantasy atmosphere sort of (in my own mind) makes it okay that some trees are flat…

One morning I found an article in one of the newspapers, which one could infer wasn't (!) all that earth shattering, seeing as it was hidden in one of the inner pages. But I don't know what I've done with the paper. I looked (and looked) for it, to check if I got it right, and couldn't find it. At some point I even thought it possible that I dreamed the whole thing (though probably not).
To the best of my memory the article announced that a new study proved the Eucalyptus tree changes its' environs.
But my first reaction? Well, that I remember well. That got phrased in words something like: Excuse me? What? Didn't we plant Eucalyptus trees in order to change the environs?
And in brackets – why waste funds/resources to study the clearly stated purpose?
Oh, well. Now we're getting into history. And… hhmmm… how shall I put it? I think I'll let Jane Austen say it. In her book – Northanger Abby, Austen put in one of her characters mouth the rather outrageous idea (which I won't quote fully):
To be at so much trouble in filling great volumes … only for the torment of little children, always struck me as a hard fate…
Unlike the character, that attributed the torment to learning how to read using history books, I was always tormented by the books as were. How is it that such fascinating dramatic stories were always written in such a boring unreadable language? At least unreadable by me. But I digressed.
However, who needs history books to refresh memory (or the Internet one cannot know who writes, how solid the facts, how accurate and/or how influenced by hidden agendas), when a stroll to the park reveals this sign:
(which says: Eucalyptus. Origin – Australia. Evergreen. Symbol to the swamp drying days and foresting from the 1920's through to the 50's. Leaves contain oils).
Although looking up the study itself made me think that I stumbled into the middle of a war…
One side cuts down trees (and is it possible the study was born of the need to justify the fact?); and the Bees side objects [saying the cutting down of these trees affects bees badly, L].
And I don't get it. If that one side is so concerned with the affect on the environment, how can they support this effect on it?

באחד הבקרים גיליתי ידיעה באחד העיתונים, אשר ניתן היה להניח שהייתה מאד לא (!) מרעישה, היות ונחבאה באחד העמודים הפנימיים. אבל אני לא יודעת מה עשיתי בעיתון. חיפשתי, כדי לבדוק אם זכרתי נכון (וחיפשתי) ולא מצאתי. בשלב מסויים אף חשבתי כי יתכן שחלמתי הכל (אך כנראה שלא).
למיטב זיכרוני הידיעה בישרה כי מחקר חדש הוכיח שעץ האקליפטוס משנה את סביבתו.
אך תגובתי הראשונה? ובכן, את זו אני דווקא זוכרת היטב. וניסוחה היה משהו כמו:
סלי-חה? מה? האם לא נטענו אקליפטוסים כדי לשנות את הסביבה?
ובסוגריים – למה לבזבז כספים/משאבים כדי לחקור את המטרה אשר מראש הוצהרה?
נו, טוב. אז עכשיו אנחנו נכנסים אל ההיסטוריה. ו… המממ… איך אומר זאת? נראה לי שאניח דווקא לג'יין אוסטן לומר זאת. בספרה – נורת'האנגר אבּי, אוסטן שָׂמה בפי אחת מדמויותיה את הרעיון (השערורייתי למדי, אותו לא אתרגם בדיוק אלא אסכם):
תמיד נדמה היה לי [כך אומרת הדמות] שגורלם של כותבי ספרי היסטוריה רע ומר: להשקיע כל כך הרבה עבודה, כדי לכתוב ספרים כל כך חשובים, אך ורק על מנת לענות [מלשון עינוי!] ילדים קטנים.
וכאן אפרד מהדמות, אשר ייחסה את העינוי ללימוד קריאה דווקא, תוך שימוש בספרי היסטוריה, היות ואותי עינתה ההיסטוריה עצמה. כי איך זה, שסיפורים אשר יכולים להיות דרמתיים ומרתקים, נכתבו תמיד בלשון כל כך משעממת ובלתי ניתנת לקריאה? או, ליתר דיוק – לקריאתי-שלי. וזה, לדעתי, העינוי האמיתי. אם כי נדמה לי שסטיתי.
אבל מי צריך ספרי היסטוריה לרענון הזיכרון (או אינטרנט, שאי אפשר לדעת מי כותב, ו/או עד כמה נבדקו העובדות, עד כמה הללו מדוייקות ו/או מושפעות על-ידי אג'נדות חבויות), כאשר טיול אל הפארק מגלה את השלט הבא:
אם כי חיפוש המחקר עצמו הביא אותי לחשוב שיכול מאד להיות כי נקלעתי אל עיצומה של מלחמה…
צד אחד כורת עצים (והאם יתכן כי המחקר נולד מהצורך לתמוך בכריתה?); וצד הדבורים מתנגד.
ואני לא ממש מבינה. אם אותו צד אחד כל כך מוטרד מהשפעה על הסביבה, מאין התמיכה בכריתה המשפיעה על הסביבה?

נ.ב. גם אם קטונתי מלהבין את המלחמה הנ"ל, בכל זאת מדובר במקומותינו, מה עוד שהננו בדיוק בין ימי זיכרון לעצמאות. וגם האקליפטוס מהווה חלק מההיסטוריה שלנו פה…
Towards the mid 1950's, when they started to build the surrounding buildings, this tree was supposed to be several centuries old. I couldn't find anywhere any more information about it, like how old exactly it is.
When I saw the latest Weekly Photo Challenge Weathered, I remembered this tree, and thought about the other meaning of weather, of coming safely through the centuries.
השקמה – לקראת אמצע שנות ה-50 של המאה הקודמת, כאשר החלו לבנות בניינים סביב השקמה הזו, התייחסו אליה כאל בת מאות שנים. בשום מקום לא הצלחתי למצוא מידע נוסף על העץ הזה, כמו בן כמה בדיוק, מי נטע (אם בכלל אפשר לדעת), או כל פרט אחר.
כאשר ראיתי את אתגר הצילום השבועי הבלתי ניתן לתרגום, נזכרתי בעץ הזה ועמידותו לאורך המאות.
The space within, so I read someplace while searching for information, is big enough for a grown person. It does look like it, but I didn't dare get too close.
החלל בתוך העץ, כך קראתי איפשהו במסגרת חיפושיי, יכול להכיל אדם בוגר. זה אמנם נראה כך, אם כי לא העזתי להתקרב מדי.

If I were stuck in traffic in front of the following, though normally I'm patient enough, I think I'd develop some rage myself. Especially in the morning rush.
זעם כבישים – אם הייתי תקועה בפקק למול התמונה הבאה, למרות שבדרך כלל יש לי סבלנות מספקת, נדמה לי שיכולתי לפתח איזשהו זעם בעצמי. במיוחד בלחץ הבוקר.
However, this tree puts me in mind, for some unfathomable reason, of a fairy-land. Seems a lot more relaxing an idea, as far as roads go.
לעומת זאת, העץ הבא, משום מה, מעורר בי מחשבות על איזו ארץ-פיות קסומה. נדמה רעיון הרבה יותר מרגיע, בכל הנוגע לדרכים.

Around these parts, nothing seems to be more chaos-inducing than the first rain of the season. Somehow it always catches us by surprise, and traffic jams mushroom everywhere.
I don't know that this really was the first rain, though it was the first for me (since the last one) but I really loved how it effected the tree on the right. And the melting on the left? Well, that just looks chaotic, doesn't it? (Which is why I added, below, the 'before' snap).
כאוס מבעד לחלון (האוטובוס) – במחוזותינו, כידוע, אין דבר יותר מעודד ערבוביה ואי-סדר מהגשם הראשון. אשר תמיד, איכשהו, מפתיע ומצמיח פקקים כפטריות שלאחריו.
לא יודעת אם זה אכן היה הראשון בכלל, אם כי היה הראשון שלי בפרט (לאחר המלקוש). ואהבתי את השפעתו על העץ מימין (מאד לא אהבתי את הפחים באמצע, אך מה יכולתי לעשות?). ואפקט המחיקה שמשמאל? ובכן, זה פשוט נראה כאוטי, לא? (ולכן הוספתי את הצילום ש'לפני').

Life's Moments
