P.S. In the post I linked above I stated a fact that I took from a leaflet I have, about the Hoopoe's crest, for I saw it happen and spread upon landing. Which is why I added the info. While following/photographing these two, I found out the Hoopoe can spread the crest, possibly at free will, even when standing on the grass. I saw it happen with my very eyes.

נ.ב., בפוסט אליו קישרתי ציינתי עובדה, שלקחתי מעלון שיש לי, לגבי הציצית. היות וראיתי דוכיפת נוחתת, ראיתי שזה נכון והציצית נפרסה בנחיתה, לכן הוספתי את המידע. במעקב/צילום של השתיים הללו, גיליתי שהדוכיפת יכולה גם לפרוס את הציצית, אולי כרצונה החופשי, גם בעודה עומדת על הדשא. ראיתי את זה קורה במו-עיניי.

Here's a fun fact about the Hoopoe: that thing on its' head (which I don't know the name of in English) spreads on landing. I wonder if it developed as some sort of a brake mechanism…
With better equipment, I may have snapped the spread this time, but with the camera I have, I didn't manage it.
עובדה כיפית ידועה במחוזותינו: ציצית הדוכיפת מתפרסת בנחיתה. ואני תוהה באם זה התפתח כמעין מנגנון בלימה…
עם ציוד טוב יותר, אולי יכולתי לתפוס את הפריסה הזו הפעם, אבל עם המצלמה שיש לי, לא הספקתי.
