"It is a truth universally acknowledged" that everyone, on the way here or there within the public domain, will meet options to sit a while, rest from walking. I've already brought to this blog several examples of chairs and benches.
However, this is the first seat I encountered that seems to have needed an explanation, example and demonstration…

ללכת וללכת | Walking And Walking

With the easing of the restrictions I was happy today to walk and walk. I went (on foot) all the way to the city center and visited the sculpture of one of the best local poets. I never went too close to it, which is why I didn't realize the man looks so nice in his sculpture – I was very happy to find that out.

עם ההקלות במגבלות שמחתי היום ללכת וללכת (למרות שזה משיר אחר בכלל). הלכתי עד אל מרכז העיר, וביקרתי את פסל ביאליק. אף פעם לא התקרבתי אליו מדי, כך שלא ידעתי כמה האיש נראה נחמד בפסלו – ממש שמחתי לגלות.

מאחלת לכולם הליכה שמחה | Wishing everyone free and happy

I have no idea when my home town started getting covered with different statues, as in between the late 80's, when I moved to greener pastures, and 2017 – time when I started touring it as a tourist, a few decades passed…
Nevertheless, I did tour it as a tourist. And in April 2017 I found this statue:

אין לי מושג מתי עיר ילדותי החלה להתכסות בפסלים שונים, היות ובין שלהי שנות ה-80', כאשר עברתי ממנה אל מחוזות זרים, לבין 2017 – זמן בו התחלתי לטייל בה כתיירת, חלפו-עברו אי-אילו עשורים…
אם כי אכן התחלתי לטייל בה כתיירת. ובאפריל 2017 מצאתי בה את זה הפסל:

I continued touring during 2018. And by the end of that year (more then a year and a half from the first photo), I came by the same place, that totally changed:

המשכתי לטייל בה גם לאורך 2018. ובסוף אותה שנה (יותר משנה וחצי מהתמונה הראשונה), הגעתי אל אותו מקום, אשר לגמרי השתנה:

When I think of 'Open', I remember this area.

פסלים | Statues

Since I moved away from my home town, as I discovered a couple of years ago, it managed to get covered by different statues. Some of which even bizarre. Which is why I was glad to find a right and fitting statue on my last visit – between the new marina on its' one side, and the old port on its' other side, a ship's stirring wheel seems exactly in its' place.

מאז שעברתי ממנה, עיר הולדתי, כפי שגיליתי בשנתיים האחרונות, הספיקה להתכסות בפסלים שונים ומשונים. חלקם אף מוזרים. לכן שמחתי מאד לגלות פסל מתאים והולם בביקורי האחרון – בין המרינה החדשה מאחד מצדדיו, לבין הנמל הוותיק מצדו השני, הגה ספינה נדמה לי בדיוק במקום.

מעבר לרחוב היה מוזיאון | Across the street there was a museum

פעם סגרה את האזור גדר חיה | the area was once enclosed by a hedge

הגדר נעלמה והייתה פעילות | the hedge was gone but there was activity

כאשר הוסרו שאר המכשולים | when all the obstacles were removed

התגלו אלו הדברים | these things appeared

מבנה לצדם גם יהיה מוזיאון | an adjacent structure will also be a museum

בין המוזיאונים… האם גם זה אומנות ? Between the museums… is this art too

P.S. Doesn't it look like a giant passed by, with a hole in his pocket, through which some of his M&M's spilled to the ground, and inspired all the rest?

נ.ב. האם זה לא נראה כאילו עבר שם ענק עם חור בכיס, ממנו נשרו ארצה כמה מהסוכריות שלו, והישרו על כל השאר?

To Effect or Not to Effect

A few explanatory words: the Weekly Photo Challenge urging to Experiment, sent me to this corner of the Park, housing some statues* (that I don't really like much). After experimenting with the photography itself, I tried some of the camera options/effects (which I don't normally mess with).
And the above result? I actually like. The Dream/Fantasy atmosphere sort of (in my own mind) makes it okay that some trees are flat…
Below you can see the original photo. Which do you prefer?

מספר מילות הסבר ל-'אפקט או לא': אתגר הצילום השבועי המציע 'להתנסות', שלח אותי אל הפינה הזו בפארק, ביתם של מספר פסלים* (אשר לא ממש מוצאים חן בעיניי). לאחר שניסיתי צילומים שונים, התנסיתי גם בכמה מהאפשרויות/אפקטים המציעה המצלמה (איתם אני לא מתעסקת בדרך כלל).
והתוצאה לעיל? דווקא מוצאת חן בעיניי. אווירת החלום/פנטזיה (לדעתי האישית) הופכת את העובדה שכמה מן העצים שטוחים למעין בסדר…

חופש הביטוי

The last WPC invited us all to deal with New Horizons. Though visually I chose to look at it with a smile (see my previous post), but the idea itself did not leave my mind.
Meaning – the base of it, which in the wide world is called New Year's Resolutions, and is not one of my own habits, stuck with me.

Which is why I decided to adopt the freedom to express myself, even if just verbally:

I hope and wish for days in which Creativity will stop to offend (at all but also the intelligence of most of us), expression will clean itself of Hate, and the Freedom of which will stop being the (rather poor) fig leaf for both of these, not to mention plain rudeness.

I will confess – I looked for a visual way to express the last paragraph, but I have no artistic presumption. After all I did not learn in any Art School…

אתגר הצילום האחרון הציע לעסוק ב-'אופקים חדשים'. אמנם בחרתי להתבטא בנושא, ויזואלית, בדרך מחוייכת (ע"ע הפוסט הקודם), אך הרעיון הכללי לא באמת התנקז בזה מדעתי.
כלומר – בסיס הרעיון, המכונה בעולם – החלטות לשנה החדשה – שאינו ממנהגי הרגיל, די הציק לי, בעיקר בימים האחרונים.

לכן החלטתי לאמץ את החופש להתבטא, גם אם רק מילולית:

אני מקווה ומייחלת לימים בהם יצירתיות תפסיק להעליב (בכלל, אך גם את האינטליגנציה של רובנו), התבטאות תתנקה משנאה, וחופש הביטוי יפסיק להיות עלה התאנה (העלוב למדי) לשני הנ"ל, שלא לדבר על סתם גסות רוח (חסרת כל יצירתיות בעליל).

אודה ואתוודה, חיפשתי את הדרך הויזואלית להביע את הרעיון בפסקה הקודמת, אבל אין לי יומרות אומנותיות. אחרי ככלות הכל, מעולם לא למדתי בבצלאל…
