It's been years that I've been trying to snap a decent shot of a Blackbird. Normally it comes out a blur. In other cases, either the bird turns its' back to me

בחזרה אל הפארק | Going back to the park

And while it is true that this time of the year The park can be boring, still…

גם אם נכון כי בעונה זו של השנה ה-פארק יכול לשעמם, בכל-זאת…

though I am fed up with Egyptian Geese myself (I find it a very violent bird and too common in the city itself) I was still happy to see one of them modeling a perfect profile.

גם אם מאסתי ביאוריות בעצמי (לדעתי, עוף אלים מאד ונפוץ מדי בעיר עצמה) עדיין שמחתי לראות אחד מהם מדגמן פרופיל מושלם.

אם כי עוד לפניו… ובכן … Although even before it… well

I'll be the first to admit – the last is not the best of photos. BUT (!), a right-click on it and choosing to open it in a different window enables to click on it again, which will enlarge it. And will enable to see better that in the lower quarter, to the right of the tree, there's a woodpecker (!). A woodpecker that made me very happy, since I don't get to meet many of them.

אודה ואתוודה מלכתחילה – לא צילום מוצלח במיוחד. אבל-ברם-אולם, קליק ימני על התמונה, ובחירה באפשרות לפתוח אותה בחלונית אחרת, מאפשר להקליק שוב על התמונה עצמה. הקליק השני יגדיל אותה. ויאפשר לראות טוב יותר כי ברבע התחתון, לימין גזע העץ, יש נקר (!). נקר ששימח אותי מאד, היות ואני לא פוגשת רבים כאלו.

Mallards seem as common (in this park) almost as much as Egyptian Geese. Although I did wonder at the sight of mainly females… until I met this male, that still seemed pretty lonely at the scene…

ברכיות נפוצות כמעט כמו יאוריות (בפארק הזה). אם כי התפלאתי לראות בעיקר נקבות… עד שפגשתי את הזכר הזה, שמשום מה המשיך להיראות לי די בודד במערכה…

Well, as I've been into flowers recently, I couldn't (this time) not include the following flower

היות ועסקתי בפרחים לאחרונה, לא יכולתי (הפעם) שלא לכלול את הפרח הבא

even if just because I normally meet the purplish variety of it (a light blue-lavender color).

… the Jackdaw. I'm always happy to meet these.

It is true – around these parts they canceled the restrictions on walking distances. There also was some talk about re-opening parks (though that did not really happen yet). It is also true that masks are still a Must, as are body-temperature tests at the entrance to shopping malls. However, a while back I suddenly remembered…

Way back, during the… (well, I don't really remember precisely. Maybe the eighties, or the nineties, although the web mentions a popularity during the seventies. Though during the seventies I was still a child, not buying jewelry to myself. Anyway, it so happened that) Mood Rings* burst onto our local world. Ever since then, I knew I had one of my own even if (I also knew) I never wore it.
Lately, versus all the talk about disease/fever/thermometers, I remembered that within this ring there is a liquid substance, that reacts to precisely this – body temperature.
Luckily (and happily), I did not get rid or it, even though I didn't ware it.

Therefore I looked (in more ways than one) and found. Both the ring itself, and some information about it (little of it and not either scientific or uniform) on the web.
But within all the pieces of information I found, it seems that everyone agrees that when the ring is green – the body temperature wearing it is normal and the blood pressure is not high.

I can add this: while the ring waits on my night stand, until now, it has been black. Yesterday we started experiencing a heat wave, that will worsen during the next few days. This morning I saw that the ring on the night stand is brown. Which leads me to think Black and Brown are also 'safe' colors.

Considering all the above mentioned, lately, every time I went out, I wore the ring. When approaching a temperature-check-stand, unavoidable these days, I threw a look. The ring is green? Wonderfully grate! The information encouraged me to go confident to the test, knowing all is well and I won't be denied entry.

And it seems there still are rings like this on offer* on-line. Anyone can feel free to use them as a portable, personal, available thermometer.

* Normally, I see Links as Recommendations. This time, however, among all the links I found to mood rings, I did not find any in English that tallied with what I remembered about the ring from the time it first came to my knowledge. Which is why I linked to the most minimal About.

זה נכון. במחוזותינו ביטלו את מגבלות מרחק ההליכה. ואף דיברו על פתיחת הפארקים (אם כי זה עוד לא ממש קרה). עוד נכון כי עדיין חלה חובת המסיכה, ובדיקת חום הגוף בכניסה לכל קניון. אבל לא מזמן נזכרתי לפתע…

אי-אז, בשנות ה- … (ובכן, אני לא ממש זוכרת בדיוק. אולי שנות ה-80 ואולי ה-90, למרות שברשת מדובר בפופולריות בשנות ה-70 דווקא. אם כי בשנות השבעים הייתי ממש ילדה ולא קניתי תכשיטים לעצמי. ובכל מקרה, קרה כי…) טבעת מצב הרוח* התפרצה אל עולמנו המקומי. די מאז ידעתי כי גם לי יש טבעת כזו, אם כי (וגם את זה ידעתי) מעולם לא ענדתי אותה.
לאחרונה, עם כל הדיבורים על מחלות/חוֹם/מדים, נזכרתי כי בטבעת הזו כלוא חומר נוזלי, המגיב בדיוק לזה – לחום הגוף.
די במזל (ולשמחתי הנוכחית) לא נפטרתי ממנה, למרות שלא ענדתי אותה.

על כן חיפשתי (תרתי משמע) ומצאתי. הן את הטבעת עצמה והן את המידע (המזערי ולא מדעי ו/או אחיד) ברשת.
אבל בין כל פיסות המידע שמצאתי נדמה כי כולם מסכימים, שכאשר הטבעת ירוקה, חום הגוף העונד אותה ממוצע ולחץ הדם לא גבוה.

אני יכולה להוסיף את זה: כאשר הטבעת בהמתנה על שידת הלילה שלי, עד כה, הייתה שחורה. אתמול, כידוע, נכנסנו אל גל חוֹם, שעוד יחריף בימים הקרובים. הבוקר ראיתי את הטבעת על השידה חוּמה. וזה גורם לי לחשוב כי גם 'שחור' ו'חוּם' מהווים צבעים 'בטוחים'.

אי לכך ובהתאם לזאת, לאחרונה, בכל פעם שיצאתי מהבית ענדתי את הטבעת. לכשהתקרבתי אל עמדת מדידת-חום, מחויבת-מציאות בימינו, העפתי מבט. הטבעת ירוקה? נהדר ונפלא! המידע עודד אותי לגשת בביטחון אל הבדיקה, בידיעה כי הכל בסדר, ולא יסרבו לי כניסה.

ומסתבר כי עדיין ניתן לרכוש טבעות כאלו* ברשת. וכל אחד יכול להרגיש חופשי להשתמש בטבעת בתור מד-חום נייד, אישי וזמין.

* בדרך-כלל אני מתייחסת אל 'קישורים' כ'המלצות'. הפעם, הקישור ל'אודות' הטבעת בעברית התאים עם מה שזכור לי לגביה מזמן היכרותי הראשונה עם הטבעת (לא באנגלית, שם קישרתי אל תיאור מינימלי במיוחד).
בנוסף, גם הקישור אל ה'רכישה' לא מהווה המלצה, אלא רק הדגמה.

ללכת וללכת | Walking And Walking

With the easing of the restrictions I was happy today to walk and walk. I went (on foot) all the way to the city center and visited the sculpture of one of the best local poets. I never went too close to it, which is why I didn't realize the man looks so nice in his sculpture – I was very happy to find that out.

עם ההקלות במגבלות שמחתי היום ללכת וללכת (למרות שזה משיר אחר בכלל). הלכתי עד אל מרכז העיר, וביקרתי את פסל ביאליק. אף פעם לא התקרבתי אליו מדי, כך שלא ידעתי כמה האיש נראה נחמד בפסלו – ממש שמחתי לגלות.

During the last month I remembered that in my youth I used to experiment with different photographing options. Which is probably why on last Wednesday, when I found a few leisure moments, I fooled around (or went Crazy) a bit with the camera.
As of now, I still haven't found the right title. However, these are the results:

בחודש שעבר נזכרתי כי בצעירותי נהגתי להתנסות בצילומים שונים ומשונים. לכן (ככל הנראה), כאשר ביום רביעי האחרון (יום העצמאות במחוזותינו) מצאתי אי-אילו רגעי פנאי, השתעשעתי ( או השתגעתי) מעט עם המצלמה.
נכון לרגעי כתיבת מילים אלו, עדיין לא מצאתי את הכותרת המתאימה. אבל-ברם-אולם, הנה התוצאות:

גירסא א' | Version A

וגירסא ב' | and Version B

If you don't think this worthy, no problem. Ignore it and I won't mind. But if you do, I would like to know: which version do you like better – A or B? And there is no need to explain (!), unless you want to.
Also, if you have an idea for a title, I'd like to know that too.

אם לא נראה לך ראוי, אין בעיה. היעדר כל תגובה לא יעליב אותי. אבל אם כן, אשמח לדעת: איזו גירסא נראית לך יותר, א' או ב'? ואין שום צורך לפרט (!), אלא אם זה רצונך.
במקביל, אם יש לך רעיון לכותרת – גם לזו אשמח.

PS, If you don't need an explanation, feel free to skip the following. If you do, this is it:
I have a coffee-table that is made of black painted metal (the stripe in the photo), its' (upper, in this case) surface – gray glass (in A – under the stripe; B – to its' left). On the surface I stood an Old ring on its' side. I found out it reflected in the surface. A is the version I actually photographed. B is the version I flipped the photo on its' side.

נ.ב. מי שלא זקוק להסבר, מוזמן לדלג על חלק זה. מי ש-כן – בבקשה:
יש לי שולחן סלון נמוך שנוצר ממתכת צבועה בשחור (הפס בתמונה), משטחו (העליון במקרה הזה) – זכוכית אפורה (ב-א' – מתחת לפס; ב-ב' – לשמאלו). על המשטח העמדתי טבעת ישנה על צידה. גיליתי כי הטבעת משתקפת במשטח השולחן. א' זו הגירסא שממש צילמתי. ב' זו הגירסא בה הפכתי את התמונה על צידה.

A later addition – it seems we all agree that version A is better. That was also my gut instinct, but only reading @tastymountaingoodness's comment I understood why.
Still considering title options.

תוספת מאוחרת – נדמה שהגענו להסכמה שגירסא א' עדיפה. זו גם הייתה תחושת הבטן שלי, אך רק לקריאת התגובה של tastymountaingoodness הבנתי למה.
