The Round Building

The moment I saw this week's photo challenge (rounded) I thought about the round building in the middle of the lake in the national park. And since today was noted here the international walking day, I went there for a walk.

(By the way, this was built in 1967, and it could be reached by boat only, until they built the first bridge to it. Any and all businesses opened in it failed, and I really don't see why. The place was abandoned but wasn't demolished because it is a symbol of the park and the town it is in. The original bridge got destroyed in a storm and the current one was built in 2013).

המבנה העגול

ברגע שראיתי את אתגר הצילום השבועי (מעוגל), חשבתי על המבנה העגול באמצע האגם בפארק הלאומי. ומכיון שהיום צויין בארץ יום ההליכה הבינלאומי, יצאתי להליכת בוקר דווקא לשם.

(אגב, בוויקי גיליתי שבנו אותו בשנת 1967, ושניתן היה להגיע אליו רק בסירות לפני שבנו את הגשר הראשון אליו. כל בית עסק שנפתח בו נכשל, ואני ממש לא מבינה למה. המקום ננטש, אך לא נהרס עדיין בגלל היותו סמל לפארק ולעיר. עוד גיליתי כי הגשר המקורי נהרס בסערה וכי את הנוכחי הוסיפו ב-2013).

חייבת לאהוב את הלבנים האלו

I know I already posted a photo of a Little Egret (here), but I liked this one better (the above. How delicate…). And the one who got away (below, with the yellow hint of its' feet).

אני יודעת שכבר העליתי תמונה של לבנית קטנה (כאן), אך אהבתי יותר את זו (לעיל. איזו עדינה, לא?). וגם את האחת שברחה (להלן, עם רמז צהוב-כפותיה).

And the third in this series? Can anyone look at it unsmiling?

והשלישית בסדרה הזו? ובכן, הניתן לראותה ולא לחייך?

הביישנים | The Shy Ones

In our world it seems a fact that the daring get more attention (whether positive or negative). The shy ones are, well – shy. Prefer the sidelines to the limelight. And when one focuses on them, they are liable of flight.
Luckily/happily, the camera I'm now using has a small zoom.
Which managed to capture the Glossy Ibis (unfortunately without the gloss):

בעולמנו, נדמה כי עובדה היא שהנועזים תמיד מקבלים את תשומת הלב (אם חיובית ואם שלילית). הביישנים, לעומתם, לעיתים נחבאים אל הכלים. מעדיפים את הצדדים על פני המרכז. וכשמתמקדים בהם, עלולים אף לברוח.
למזלי/שמחתי, למצלמה בה אני משתמשת עכשיו יש זום קטן.

but what made me happiest is that I finally managed to (really) get myself a Spectacled Bulbul:

…hopefully you've managed to disregard the clothes lines on this last one, but at least this bulbul is more visible more than the first…

Set the cat among the… well, they're winged anyway

I'm not at all sure what kind of winged creatures these are, but they certainly made quite a racket (though maybe that was for me, not the cat).

את הביטוי המקורי באנגלית הייתי מתרגמת (מילולית) ל: שלח את החתול אל בין היונים. ובכן, הללו לא יונים, אך מכונפים בכל מקרה. איזה מן יצור הם – אין לי מושג. אבל ספר הביטויים שלי גורס כי המקבילות העבריות לביטוי הנ"ל יכולות להיות: התחיל/פתח מחול שדים; או עורר מהומה רבתי. והיצורים הללו אכן חוללו מהומה קולנית (אם כי יתכן שזה קרה בגללי ולא בגלל החתול).

It's good a match was avoided and no one got hurt
